Edward Archibald

Edward Archibald is the youngest and one of the longest hitting members of the AGA. He lives in Provo Utah with fellow AGA member Jim Archibald. Edward's golf career has been shorter than some of the competition, but that is due solely to his youth. His high points have been few but continue to accumulate. In his high school career Edward really started to play well in his senior year at Provo High school, leading the team with a 6th place finish in region. At the Hobble Creek tournament Edward was even after 9 with just ten putts. He then ate 3 doubles on the back shooting a 77 to boost his team and win the meet by one stroke over a very mad Springville, on their own home course. At East Bay, his home course, Edward shot a 73 and tied for second with one shot back from the lead. He chipped in for birdie on the last hole to end the round with a smile. AGA tour success has followed, as he won the IDES in 2009. He played in the 2007 and 2008 ILLCRIC, placing in the top four. He also played in the 2008 Independent, forcing Thom and Jim into a four hole, three way playoff that Thom would later win on the 12th hole. Edward finished a solid second in the playoff. In his free time, Edward enjoys building model rockets, listening to music, playing xbox, hanging out with friends, backpacking, hiking, biking, longboarding, and eating ice cream. At the golf course, Edward works as a cart-boy adding to his many hours that he is there, making it difficult to have time with friends. Edward loves hitting long drives that leave spectators in awe. He continues to work hard on his short game, inspired by his High School golf coach, Coach Preece, who used to mock him with his inability to putt and to chip. "You can sure hit it a long ways, if you just worked on your short game you would be a lot better. You could be a really good golfer if you worked on it." This hard work payed off in the IDES, as Edward was getting up and down everywhere. He even chipped in to save his par on the 14th hole, after leaving himself short after his bunker shot. Edward has just purchased a new putter that he loves to spend time with putting as he waits for carts to come in to clean. He is a real contender and will keep other AGA members' hands full in future events.
